COASTAL CARS, is the trading name of T.J. Lloyd-Jones & Son Ltd which has been established in the Motor Trade for over 60 years.
Initially the father and son business started trading as a used car garage from Garth Garage, Penrhwllan, Llandysul and soon built up a local reputation, which helped them sell in excess of 400 second hand cars a year.
Eventually a Leyland Dealership was acquired which allowed them to sell such classics as Austin, Morris, MG, Rover and Triumph. This partnership lasted for over 25 years and led to rapid growth and development within the business.
The success of Garth Garage was to play a major part in the development of a new venture for the company. Garth was leased as the business expanded into car dismantling, a new larger premises was found in the coastal village of Tanygroes near Cardigan, South West Wales.
Tanygroes Car Dismantlers T.C.D. was created. The company purchased cars from Major Insurance Companies and dismantled them. The parts were catalogued and cars repaired and used cars sold. Such was its success that they became the largest dismantling yard in the whole of Wales.
T.C.D. was sold in 2005. Part of the property was retained for Industrial Units and the rest to facilitate a used car/commercial compound, specialising in selling quality used cars and commercials, Coastal Cars was born.
